  Core Acting Classes
Core Acting Classes
Like our summer camps, these classes introduce young actors and actresses to the fundamentals of theater:  imagination, character development and story, as well as creating basic sets, props and costumes.  Students will focus on bringing characters to life through creative movement, improvisation and text.  Using stories from many cultures, they will explore dramatic structure as they create their own piece to perform for family and friends on the last day of class.  Taught by Marcy Bannor and Lisa Pearson.

Spring R&P Lab
Once, In the Time of Trolls
By Sandra Fenichel Asher

In this sweet, little-known fairy tale from Norway , Katrina makes friends with a Bear who isn't quite what he seems.  By trying to sneak a peek at the Bear's real identity, Katrina condemns him to remain the prisoner of the evil Troll Princess in a dreary castle east of the sun and west of the moon.  With the guidance of three wise women and a boost from the magical Four Winds, Katrina journeys to rescue her friend - a Prince in disguise.  Will Katrina triumph in the showdown with the Troll Princess?  This action-packed script offers an abundance of juicy roles for a talented ensemble - and a surprise ending that will please all ages.

Spring R&P By Audition
The Actor's Nightmare AND The Fifteen-Minute Hamlet
The Actor's Nightmare by Christopher Durang AND The Fifteen-Minute Hamlet by Tom Stoppard

It's a double bill!  In The Actor's Nightmare, the hapless George Spelvin is living a dream that is common among actors.  It's not the dream of fame and fortune, but that nightmare where you show up on stage and are expected to perform in a show for which you have for some reason never rehearsed and know neither the lines nor the plot.  And you're wearing a ridiculous outfit!  The same cast will present The Fifteen-Minute Hamlet, which is actually a side-splitting 13-minute version of Shakespeare's greatest play (followed by a two-minute encore version).

Ages:  12 - 19
